Serial numbers and product codes
A serial (or product code) is the code printed on the spine, the disc, or the cartridge. Each region and edition usually has its own, which makes it the easiest way to tell editions apart. A few examples:
- SLPS-00700 (Japan, PS1)
- SLUS-00067 (North America, PS1)
- SLES-00524 (Europe, PS1)
- SHVC-, NUS-, DL-DOL- (Super Famicom, N64, GameCube)
Tap a serial on a game page to copy it.
One thing to watch out for: many reprints reused the original serial (most Greatest Hits and Platinum discs, for example), so the serial alone won't always tell you which printing you have. Check the label on the case too.
