Help, Finding games
Editions explained
Every game on Tana is broken down into three layers: the game itself, the release (one for each region on each platform), and the edition, which is the actual thing sitting on your shelf. When you add a game to your collection, you're really adding an edition.
Editions come in a few kinds: standard, reprint, budget, limited, bundle, promotional, rental, cover variant, and other. Most games have a standard edition, and the popular ones usually have a reprint or two on top of that.
Reprint lines are the budget re-releases companies put out once a game sold well. A few examples:
- Japan: PlayStation the Best, PS one Books, PlayStation 2 the Best, Konami the Best, Koei the Best, etc.
- North America and Europe: Greatest Hits, Platinum, Essentials, Player's Choice, Nintendo Selects, Platinum Hits, Classics
- Korea: the BigHit Series
European releases are also split by country when a country version has its own serial (France, Germany, Spain, etc.), since that's a different product on the shelf. A cover variant is a printing with different box art under the same serial.
Japanese edition names are shown in Japanese with a short English note next to them, i.e. 初回限定版 (first-print limited edition).
